Moving to the cloud is straightforward. Moving without breaking a workday is the part that takes planning.
We have been running Exchange and on-premises file server migrations to Microsoft 365 since the Office 365 days. The pattern is well established: pre-stage the data, run a delta sync, cut over out of hours, and be on site or on call the following morning when the questions start.
The bigger issue is what happens after. A default Microsoft 365 tenant is not a secure one. Conditional access, retention policies, external sharing rules, and license right-sizing all need deliberate configuration, and most tenants we inherit have never had it.
Not everything belongs in the cloud. Latency-sensitive applications, large media workflows, and some line-of-business software are better left where they are. Hybrid is a legitimate destination, not a failure to finish migrating.

How long does a Microsoft 365 migration take?
For most organizations under a hundred users, two to four weeks from kick-off to cutover, with the migration itself over a weekend. Large mailbox archives and complex file permissions extend that; we will tell you which applies to you after discovery.
Will people lose email during the move?
No. Mail continues to flow throughout. Data is pre-staged and synchronized before cutover, so the switch itself is a DNS change rather than a data transfer.
We are already on Microsoft 365 but inherited it. Can you review it?
Yes. A tenant assessment against Microsoft’s security baseline is one of the most common pieces of work we do, and it very rarely comes back clean.
